You know, i've been giving a new ford fiesta and a new VW polo as replacement cars for the VW golf i trashed. Maybe i could do a personal review on both :)
The Fiesta was a new car, and not actually used well before i got it, even though it had 1200km on the counter. Which means: slow acceleration, shocky gearshifts, weak brakes... So when i said i have an underpowered car, i meant the car had to be broken in.
And when i had to give it back, the acceleration was fine, gearshifts were softer and the brakes finally did their job well.
The ride wasn't very comfortable though. Suspension was very stiff and every bump in the road could be felt. And the driving noise from the exterior wasn't pleasant either. And come on, close the doors and you hear a cheap metallic sound, the doors seem so hollow
But, it has to be said, ford does have a great audio system! And their new dynamic line concept is lovely for the interior as for the exterior. The seats were great and nicely formed and even filling up the car is a very futuristic thing to do. No more interiorbuttons that need pressing, but just a push of the lid, and it pops right open.
I'll give it 6,5/10
Ford made better cars then this.
As for the VW polo, which for the record is a diesel unlike the Fiesta which was petrol powered, i love it to bits. I do not know why, but VW has done it again!
Amazing to drive, excellent 'round corners, good acceleration even though it had less then 600km on it, great interior concept, slightly agressive exterior with a nice balance between sleek and abstract lines. Suspension's a bit stiff, but better then the Fiesta, so it smooths out the bumpy roads better, and believe me, i do know bumpy streets ;) Great brakes and awesome steering.
Too bad the gearstick's too small. It's reaaaaally tiny! And the detailing on the inside is slightly cheapishly done.
And aren't german cars normally built decently? This car has a problem with the backdoor on the driver's side. All the doors are open, but that one just won't budge. Shame though.
I'll give the VW a 7,5/10
A great compact, but VW, revamp your decent carbuilding abilities.
